I never knew my dad’s parents (Charles Edward Pinkley and Averah Elizabeth Vance-Pinkley) They both passed away before I was born.  I have no photos of Grandma & Grandpa Pinkley and I do not remember ever seeing a photo of them.  Dad did not talk about them much.

Grandpa Pinkley passed away on November 28, 1964.
Grandma Pinkley passed away on June 6, 1966.

My mother’s parents (Raymond Elmer Henson and Juanita Frances Ketcherside-Henson) lived next door to me as I was growing up.  I have a few photos of Grandpa but none of Grandma. They were both great people and I remember holidays and fun times spent with them.

Grandma Henson passed away on November 15, 1981 at age 61
Grandpa Henson passed away on May 13, 1988 at age 75

This beautiful poem was written for me in May 2007 by a sweet friend, Debi Fisher.  She wrote this poem in memory of my mother, Vickie Sue Henson-Pinkley.  Mom passed away on April 03, 1991

FOREVER MOTHER

I think as little girls
We are all born to be a Mother
The same as all the rest
Yet different from one another
We cuddle dolls and puppies
We fix boo boos and small aches
We have this built in nurse
And do whatever it takes
We all have our little quirks
But the love I remember best
Mom wasn’t there all the time
But when she was it was filled with zest
She’s take me to the beauty parlor
Her hair done , I’d get nails
Being with her , in her special place
Put the wind right into my sails
So now I’m grown and have kids
Two of my own grown and finding their way
I reflect back to the time
When I shared that same kind of day
Once a little girl
And now I am another
I’ll never forget , and my memories I’ll keep
Of my forever Mother

The sign below is something I tell myself everyday. For me, life has been rough (very rough) at times. Everything that has happened in my life has made me into who I am today.  I do my best to think positive and to find at least one thing good in each and every day.

My husband, many family members and many friends have Diabetes. Diabetes is a lifelong, chronic disease that forces a person to change everything in their life (diet, exercise, etc).

It’s not easy to hear you have diabetes. But for millions of people,  learning about their diabetes is the first step toward feeling better and living a longer, healthier life.

There are two types of diabetes, which may cause the following symptoms:

Type 1 Diabetes

  •     Frequent urination
  •     Unusual thirst
  •     Extreme hunger
  •     Unusual weight loss
  •     Extreme fatigue and Irritability

Type 2 Diabetes (Often people with type 2 diabetes have no symptoms)

  •     Any of the type 1 symptoms
  •     Frequent infections
  •     Blurred vision
  •     Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
  •     Tingling/numbness in the hands/feet
  •     Recurring skin, gum, or bladder infections

Adopting, Rescuing or Taking in a Homeless pet won’t change the world.

But it will change the world for that pet.

Even if you cannot take in an animal, you still help make a change.

You can donate to animal shelters, rescue groups, online organizations and more.

Help to be the change!

Below are photos of my two dogs, Annabelle and Shelby.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Annabelle is a black lab mix,who will be 12 years old on November 22nd.  Shelby is a boxer mix, that will be 8 years old on November 20th.  These dogs were not purchased from a pet store or from any type of breeder.  We got Annabelle from a family member when she was only four weeks old and we got Shelby from a friend, when she was nearly three months old.  Yes, they are both mutts but they are awesome dogs, with great personalities.  We love them very much and they are a huge part of our family.

Do you have any pets?  If so, what are they? Leave a comment and let me know.  Feel free to share any adoption/rescue or any other animal story.
